Poster Guidelines

WBC 2016 is offering a hybrid poster solution:

A. Printed Posters (Obligatory): All poster presenters are required to prepare a physical printed poster (detailed instructions below or click here for PDF Version)
B. Electronic Poster (Optional): As of April 1 poster presenters may upload a PDF file detailing the contents of their poster to allow registered delegates to review material prior to attending the Congress. Click here for details.

Preparing your printed poster:

1. The Maximum size of your poster shall not exceed 91.44 cm wide by 152.4 cm high (36” W x 60” H).
2. Mounting materials will be supplied by the Congress.
3. In preparing your poster for the session, we suggest that you limit the amount of printed material to the least possible. If supplemental material is desired, you may hand out information sheets to those viewing your poster.
4. Poster material must be prepared in advance and text should be large enough to be read from a distance of 1 metre (3.25') or more.
5, Each poster must have a top label indicating the title of the paper, the names of the authors and their affiliations. The size of the characters for the title should be at least one inch high.
6. Keep illustrative material simple. Charts, drawings and illustrations are usually similar to those used in making slides - preferably with bolder, heavier figures. Simple use of colour is effective for adding emphasis. Mount illustration on fairly stiff paper - but NOT heavy cardboard.
7. Simple "Introduction" and "Conclusion" sections are helpful. When feasible, use graphs for demonstrating qualitative relationships, use tables for precise numerical values. Photographs should be in a matte finish, not glossy.
8. Do not fold posters; try to carry them in an appropriate container rolled-up. Do not mail poster presentations in advance, they may not arrive in time; bring them with you to the Congress. The Congress organizers will not accept deliveries of posters from the attendees.
9. Please note that there will be no audio-visual equipment in the poster area.
10. Congress staff will be present to assist you for finding your board.

E-Poster Preparation (Optional):

The Congress webapp will provide delegates with the opportunity to view the abstract of your poster, and optionally, an electronic PDF file representing the contents of your poster. As delegates will be viewing the file on a laptop or mobile device we strongly recommend that poster presenters do not upload the actual poster used onsite and alternatively create a six slide PowerPoint or Keynote presentation (saved as a PDF) for delegates to review prior to attending and onsite at the congress.

  • Presenters may upload 6 slides (maximum size 4 MB) detailing their poster in our conference management system.
  • When creating your slides use widescreen (16x9) in your page/slide setup as this best fits most screen proportions.

  • Instructions will be emailed when the system is open (by April 1) on how to upload electronic posters.
